We are a successful, competitive club, always keen to welcome new members! We compete, we socialise, we raise money for the club & we have a good time together!
From tractor to gig – the club welcomes St Columb Young Farmers.
It was a beautiful June evening as we welcomed St Columb Young Farmers to the club and invited them to swap tractor for gig and have a go at learning to row.
After a safety briefing and background to the heritage of the gig club in Padstow, we were ready to take to the water. With a superb turnout, we launched both Dasher and Teazer, our training boats, and managed to take all 24 young farmers out for a half hour row and short race back into the harbour. It wasn’t long before we realised the potential of many of the novices so will certainly be encouraging them to come again. A great night had by all.
We look forward to welcoming more of the Cornwall Young Farmers to the club soon.
Happy birthday Dasher, 30 years

On 30 March we celebrated 30 years since the launch of Dasher, our Padstow built gig. We were delighted to welcome the boat builder himself, Dasher, and the local community.

Rock Regatta – Sun 29th May 2016
We rowed over to Daymer Bay in the fog which soon cleared (or did it?…) to leave a beautiful sunny day, albeit with a strong northerly wind.
The Ladies Vets crew rowed out to the start, coxed by Rachel (her first race coxing!) & the fog rolled back in, causing all the coxes to miss the first mark! The safety boat re-directed everyone & once we were around the last mark we were back in the sunshine!
It was a great days racing & some good results & very sun burnt faces by the time we’d rowed back to Padstow!

About Us
From March through to October crew training takes place several nights a week (see the info page for the timetable) and we race most weekends from June to September, usually on Saturdays at other club regattas throughout Cornwall and Devon. Crew rowers must be keen to represent the club in races and be determined to improve their fitness and rowing technique. Our primary objective is to produce strong crews who can compete well at these events!
We also hold a club rowing nights where novices can learn to row before progressing through to the crew rowing and club rowers can enjoy the benefits of a row on our beautiful estuary in Padstow.
We currently have 4 Gigs – Brabyn built by Brian Nobbs (2010), Petroc (2004), Teazer (1988) and Dasher (1989)
Safety and Financial Stability
To conduct our rowing (both when training and at events) in the safest manner possible.
To raise enough money through membership, sponsorship and fundraising events to cover the costs of running the club and updating equipment.
Competitive & Social
To do our very best at events, through commitment, technical training and fitness.
To be a friendly and inviting club, where members can enjoy both the fitness and social aspects of rowing.
